A startling incident unfolded near Garia station in the southern suburb, as local residents discovered the lifeless body of a newborn baby floating in the canal on Saturday morning. The news quickly spread, creating a sense of shock and concern in the area.
Upon immediate notification, the police from Narendrapur police station arrived at the scene to retrieve the infant's body, subsequently initiating a post-mortem examination. As part of the ongoing investigation, the police are examining CCTV footage in the vicinity to determine the circumstances surrounding the presence of the newborn's body in the canal.
